Michelle Hed

Artistic Biography

Michelle Hed is an artist, poet, and photographer living in Minnesota. Michelle finds her artistic inspiration with every glance out her window and every step out her door.

Michelle has had a pencil or a brush in her hand for as long as she can remember. Her first ink drawing was published in 1986 by the Red Wing Arts Association. Her preferred mediums are acrylic paint and graphite, but she will jump into other mediums when the mood strikes – including gouache, watercolor, charcoal, colored pencil, and acrylic ink. Michelle was honored to have a graphite sketch in the Minneapolis Institute of Art’s ‘Foot in the Door 5: The Virtual Exhibition’ November 1, 2020 – January 10, 2021.

Her poems have appeared in the following books, magazines and online journals: Poetic Bloomings, Sprout, The Fib Review, Pay Attention: A River of Stones, Prompted: An International Collection of Poems, A Handful of Stones, Writer’s Digest, Haiga Online, and has been a finalist in the Poetic Asides Poem- A- Day Challenge 2009 and 2015.

Michelle’s photography has been awarded in local contests and has been published in Minnesota Birding, Holiday Word Gifts and Mouse Tales Press. She also has two books, Natural Musings and A to Z Nature Poetry, which contains both her photography and poetry.

Her art went on a long hiatus while she went to college, got married and started a family. Michelle started picking up the brush, pen, and lens more frequently back in 2006.
